Hello,

I'm new to these groups but I really need some help with an upgrade.
We currently use Project 98 to access an SQL 7 database. We also have
a Global.mpt file that is mission critical.
I'm upgrading to a NEW SQL 2000 server and plan to use Project 2003 for
our clients.

How can I accomplish this upgrade and preserve my Global.mpt?
What are the steps involved to upgrade from 98 --> 2003 clients?

Our global.mpt contains macros that point to our old server name, so
I'll need to figure out how to modify the macros too...
Any advice would be appreciated.

tks,

Allan

If it is truly mission critical, then I'd go through the Global.mpt and take
an inventory of everything that is in there.
Then determine what needs to be updated.
Using the organizer, copy the important elements into a blank file.
Then open the blank file with project 2003 and copy them into the
global.mpt.
Using your inventory list, check each item to see that it works.
As for modifying the macros, well you simply hit the ALT+F11 keys to open
the editor and change them.
You might want to find the original author to walk you through this.
You may find some changes that need to be made.
When you finish that. Test each function again.
When satisfied, start deploying.
