Discussion:
Changing resource availability and then re-leveling
(too old to reply)

I have an existing project where I would like to change the resource
availability for several team members. After changing their availability on
the Resource Sheet, I try to re-level the project to calculate new end dates,
but Project now just gives me an error for each of their tasks stating that
"The overallocation cannot be resolved. The resource is assigned at more than
the resource's maximum units..."

Why doesn't Project re-allocate their time and level the project instead of
telling me to fix the resource availability for each task? How can I do what
I am trying to do?

Thanks.

Hi Fred,

As for the why, Leveling never, never, never changes assignment units.

So you will have to adjust the units manually
This can be done in several ways.
I recommend to open the Resource assignment window, select the resource,
Replace, and replace by the same resource but with the new assignment units.

An alternative is via Edit, Replace in the Resource names column.

Hope this helps,
